Heather and Paul

Heather and Paul got hitched last weekend at the Majestic Valley Lodge between Anchorage and Glenallen. It was a wonderful celebration and we are glad we could be part of it. We wish Heather and Pual the very best.

The fertility dance! Hope it works as well for Heather as it did for me :)

We camped out after the wedding- Wyatt did good in the tent even though it was snowing in the morning when we woke up- Gotta love ALaska!!

A walk in the woods

Matching hats and shades..cool dudes.

Walks make Wyatt sleepy.
Owen climbed the big hill..and so did Mama and # 2 :)

Stopping to admire the spring flowers.

Just more cuteness

We take so many pictures of Wyatt and they are all pretty darn cute...its hard not to post all of them but here are just few more.
Diaper changing is getting a bit more challenging now that Wyatt is so squiggly.

Papa took this one.
Teething time! Wyatt got both hands in there, couldn't quite fit both feet but he tried!

Toothy grin :)
Pulling Papa's hair is fun!

"Hey, that baby is almost as cute as me!"

let the projects begin!

This is going to be the summer of projects. The first one is building a new shed so we can tear down the old one to make room for the addition we are going to put on the cabin. Should be good for father-son bonding.

Happy Birhtday Old Man

Jeff is forty....again :)

4 months!

Wyatt had his 4 month check-up and shots :( He weighed in at 15 lbs 4oz and was 25 inches long.

He is trying to sit alone now but is still pretty tipsy.

Wyatt has discovered his toes and they are his new favorite toy. He is also getting his first tooth!!

Decisons, Decisions

Well, I had been battling with what to do about returning to work after my maternity leave was up..there were many factors involved but when faced with a hard decision I did what any mature responsible adult would do, I consulted the magic 8 ball. I asked the ball if I should quit my job and stay home with my baby and it said " without a doubt"

So I quit!!! Marnie would be proud of me, you never doubt the 8 ball :)

Sweet Ride

With the nice weather here we have been spending quite a bit of time out and about with Wyatt in his new ride..it is the SUV of strollers, we love it! It is perfect for the gravel roads and trails around the house and the bug netting keeps Wyatt safe from the pesky mosquitos that have come out in full force.
Mom took one for the team.

Not to be shown up by some baby, Jeff and I bought a sweet ride of our own!!

But we let Wyatt drive it sometimes.

Bees!

My latest homestead adventure is beekeeping. We borrowed the hives and all gear from a friend for the summer to see how we do, maybe next year we will invest in our own gear. I really knew nothing about keeping bees so my friend Holly came over to help me hive the bees.

The bees come through the mail from California packed in these screen boxes, 3 lbs of bees!

The Queen bee is in her own little cage, so the other bees can't get to her right away. They need time to get used to each other before they will except her as their Queen. A marshmallow is stuck in hole in the cage, the worker bees eventually chew away the marshmallow and release her into the hive. She won't leave the hive, her primary duty is to lay eggs. The other bees feed her, clean her and even carry away her poo.. ah to be Queen!!

The bees just get shaken out of the box and dumped into the hive. I was nervous that there would be mad bees flying all over everywhere stinging us and causing havoc but they were quite mellow and just settled in without much of a fuss.

Success! We had quite a few bees crawling on us but not even one sting :) I have checked the hive a couple of times now and everything appears to be going well. The bees have built up some nice comb and there is pollen and eggs in the cells. We still have to fed them sugar water becuase there are not enough flowers blooming yet but it shouldn't be long now.

Spring Migration

The geese have been here for weeks now and just this week we have been starting to see a lot more migrants- swallows, robins, cranes, ducks, warblers, raptors etc. We love this time of year!!Geese at Clearwater lake a couple weeks ago.
