Delta girls gathering

A few weekends ago, while Jeff was off hunting again, I hosted my first Delta girls gathering. No offense to the guys, but after 3 weeks of hearing so much talk about guns and hunting it was really nice to spend some time talking about things that really matter! A few of my lady friends (along with Owen and the dogs but they don't talk about hunting so it was okay) came over to our place and we went for a nice hike behind the house up to the top of 4- mile hill then came back and made some yummy pizzas for dinner.

Happy to be on the top

This is Owen.....we are looking forward to outfitting our new baby with all of his hand-me-downs

Moose hunt '06 continued...

Well Bob and Ed are back home now and unfortunately they get not get a moose but it certainly was not for the lack of effort. After getting back from the raft trip on the Tanana the guys went out almost everday and tried a couple more "secret spots" closer to home. They did bag a lot of nice scenery and perfect Alaskan fall weather.

The moose someone else got. The guys ended up spending most of one evening helping these folks butcher their moose. In exchange for the help and a few photos (they forgot thier camera)they promised to send jeff some of the meat. Bob and Ed both commented that maybe it was a good thing they didn't get one becuase it looked like so much work!

Well...that concludes the 2006 moose hunting season. The house seems a little empty now that everyone is gone and now we don't have anyone to do the dishes, butcher chickens, work in the garden, put plastic on the windows or stack fire wood. Good thing we got so much work out of them while they were here :)
Thanks guys, come back anytime!!

Moose hunt '06

Well, we had a sucessful trip in many ways but the moose evaded us. Luckily we had fantastic weather and it was a beautiful spot just to pass the time enjoying the view and other wildlife. We spotted a few moose off in the distance, as well as, swans, geese, cranes, peregrine falcons, great gray owls, a nice bull caribou, wolves, and coyotes. We got back late on Tuesday night after a 9 hour day on the river. The next day we slept in and spent the rest of the afternoon getting all the gear put away but the guys are on the move again and headed down south by the Denali Hwy to look for Caribou and maybe a ptarmigan or two.

Is Ed sleeping on the job? You be the judge.

They spent alot of time looking at this pond

No moose here either, but a great place to look for them.
